Half-term - Breaks and Holidays
Half-term school holidays usually fall three times per school year during October, February, and around the late May Bank Holiday. Depending upon whether any extra teacher training days are included, they tend to last at least a week giving you five full days and two weekends either side to fill!
That can be a challenging amount of time to keep the kids happily occupied, but thankfully there are plenty of options! Whether your children are toddlers, slightly bigger kids or even fast approaching adulthood there is lots for them to do at Alton Towers resort during half-term holidays.
The theme park may be closed for the first half-term of the year in February but other fantastic elements of the resort such as the Cariba Creek Waterpark, the Spa and Extraordinary Golf are open all year round offering plenty of fun choices for children and adults. However, during the May Bank Holiday and autumn half-term breaks Alton Towers theme park is buzzing and for thrill-seekers there is nowhere better to go for gut-wrenching fun!
Ride ‘Oblivion’ if you can bear the nail-biting delay and eventual rapid descent into the heart-stopping vertical drop, or if you love speed ‘Rita- the queen of speed’ is the ride for you; accelerating from 0 – 100 in a jaw-dropping 2.5 seconds! There’s also a superb selection of slower and gentler rides for those who prefer a more tranquil pace and for those children who don’t yet reach the minimum heights for the thrillers!
Even better than coming on day visits you could choose to stay at Alton Towers resort. Check back regularly for details of offers at the Splash Landings Hotel and you could end up enjoying a fun-filled half-term break or two at Alton Towers!
